CalFire Helicopter Base At E16

CalFire has setup a helitack base at San Martin Airport to assist in fighting the Crews Fire in Gilroy.  They have approximately 12 helicopters working out of the airport, along with all of their support equipment.  We have temporarily closed parts of taxiway X to increase separation between the helicopters and local traffic.  CalFire currently expects to be on-site for the remainder of the week, but the actual end date is not known at this time.

While the airport remains open for your use, please exercise extreme vigilance while in the vicinity of the airport.
