Transfer of Palo Alto Airport to City of Palo Alto

Transfer of Palo Alto Airport (PAO) from County of Santa Clara (County) to City of Palo Alto (City)

9/3/2014

The County of Santa Clara Board of Supervisors and the Palo Alto City Council approved an agreement on August 5th and August 11th, respectively, to transfer control and operation of PAO from the County back to the City, effective immediately.  The Airport is owned by the City but was being operated by the County under a long-term lease that was set to expire in 2017.

As a tenant at PAO, all future communication regarding the Airport and your tenancy should be directed to the City at 650-329-2444. Andy Swanson, the City Airport Manager, and Karen Mitchel, the Airport Management Analyst, are both very capable and willing to answer your question.

Beginning in September 2014, billing will be handled by the City.  However, the City is still configuring its system and does not expect the September invoices to be mailed until the middle of the month.  The City has assured me there will be no late fees or penalties assessed with the September billing.  If you have already sent your September rent payment to the County, we will forward it to the City without any further action necessary on your part.  If you have yet to submit your September rent payment, please wait until you receive a new billing statement from the City.

You can find more information about the PAO transfer on both the City and County websites.
